First of all the competition is being held in Pasadena, CA at the Rose Bowl. Yes, THAT Rose Bowl. This is Phase 1 of the competition. They have made a firm date that the line will officially start at 8 P.M. on Saturday the 16th. But I've changed my reservations so many times. When I get into Los Angeles on Friday afternoon, i'm getting to the Rose Bowl and creating my own freakin' line. So supposedly they will be taking about the first 1,500 to 2,000 people in line. You can imagine in a city like Los Angeles where everyone wants to be famous, that's barely any people. That's why I'm willing to sleep outside for three nights to ensure that I'm one of the top 1,000 in line. But even that may not be enough. They have held a try-out just like this one in six other cities. New York, Detroit, Atlanta, Miami, Nashville and Austin. The competition is going to be incredibly tough because American Idol is such a known thing now. Anyways like I said before this is Phase 1 of the competition. If I even manage to get in the top 1,500 people, we get taken to a room or a selection area. From there producers from the show pretty much pick out people for initial auditions based on your look. My height might hurt me and if that's how it is, then that's how it is. If you get past that point, then you get an initial audition, and following that you perform an acapella song in front of one of the judges. Either Pop Diva Paula Abdul, Big Bad Randy Jackson, or the ever so cold Simon Cowell. If all goes well you are selected down to about 30 contestants that will compete against the others selected from each of their respected cities. In Phase 2 of the competition, they'll hold another audition to bring the 30 or so from each of the cities together and trim that down to 30 total. And that's really where the show takes off. Pretty much, this is near impossible and luck has to be on my side, but who knows. It could turn out to be nothing or it could be something special. All I know is that I'm putting myself in a position where I can control every factor possible that I can control and leave the rest up to them. Whatever happens, happens and I'm gonna enjoy the whole experience because I'll never get a chance to do this again.
